Another example of why I'm tired of this

As you know from my previous post, Christine has been sick today. She turned around through the morning and we actually managed to get groceries and she had a normal lunch. After her nap though, watch out. Anyway, she was sick again and had a fever of 102.4F. So she got some Advil and Tylenol and I call our real estate agent to say that we can't exactly leave the house for the 3pm showing. This is at about 2:45pm. They agree that they still would like to see the house and they're ok with us being here. So here goes:

3pm: 4 people show up to visit the house. They ask a few questions, talk quite openly, talk about what room they would use as a tv room, what they would put where, how they'd need stairs off the deck and a bit of fencing for the dog, etc. A bit weird being here, but I'm totally over having strangers in my house. I feel like half of Brockville has seen our house.

3:40pm: They leave. I change Nicholas' diaper and remember that Christine was complaining about pain when peeing yesterday (I had more or less dismissed it as she complains about stuff hurting ALL THE TIME! I figured if it still hurt today that we would call the Dr). So after remembering that and thinking about her fever that I can't quite control, I start trying to call the Dr's office. I can't get through and they stop answering the phones at 4...

Somewhere between 4 and 5pm: I call a friend to see if I'm overreacting about thinking I need to take Christine to the clinic vs. just waiting until tomorrow for an apointment. I may not be freaking out... so I try calling TeleHealth. Turns out they don't answer phones before 5pm... In the meantime...
- Our real estate agent calls to say that it was a very good showing today and she's hopeful. She's also hopeful about the showing tomorrow. Turns out she's been busier in November than she was in September and October combined - she sold 10 houses this month! Too bad ours wasn't one of them, at least so far...
- A friend arrives with some Advil for Christine (I had run out) and some Pedialyte freezies. He's not out the door when the doorbell rings (front door)
- A guy I was expecting came to pick up our lawnmower and accessories. He had trouble finding everything and some trouble with the lock to the shed so was back and forth about 3 times. Anyway, it's gone - yay! Something else done on the list
- I start making dinner and give the kids some Cheerios to keep them going while I also try to get through to TeleHealth

5pm: talk to the receptionst at TeleHealth and get all our info in

5:20pm: the nurse calls me back and we go through all the symptoms, etc. She makes recommendations w.r.t. treating the fever and says that I should go to the clinic right away. I call a couple of friends to figure out what I'm doing with Nicholas. Once again, Sandra and Ed come to the rescue (he's also the one that dropped off the Advil & freezies - I totally don't know what I would do without them!).

5:45pm: Nicholas is dropped off and is going to be fed dinner. Christine and I head to the clinic, with a snack for her to eat while we wait. When we arrive, we find out that our GP (IMO the best one in town) happened to see the fax coming in from TeleHealth and decided to stay to see us. So we didn't have to wait for the clinic Dr and we got to see our our own. Trevor's going to miss the Boardwalk Dental, I'm going to miss Dr. Everett. He and his office is at the top of the list (not counting friends) of things that I will miss in Brockville. Oh well...

Anyway, for Christine, nothing seems to be wrong, other than she has a fever. Her urine is clear, her lungs are clear, her belly seems fine and her ears look great. She's just running a fever - likely just a virus of some sort. So we'll keep treating that (a little more proactively) and hope that it doesn't turn into something more and hope Nicholas doesn't get it.

6:30pm: We pick up Nicholas and head home. Christine has a little bit more to eat while I talk to Trevor and we start the bedtime routine around 7.

Since then, I've had dinner while watching my favorite night of tv. I've had a bit of chocolate and will be cracking open a beer. Hopefully the kids sleep through the night and this illness is over soon.

I don't know how you do it Jules. You're a wonder woman for sure!

Your favourite night for TV - what shows? :)

Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother and Two and a Half Men. Monday nights on CBS. Remember, we only have 3 channels... But they are pretty good shows. I think you'd probably quite enjoy Big Bang Theory - perhaps the others as well.

You know, I'm sure Amy would be able to do it too - you, not sure, but Amy for sure!! :)

You're right - Amy would be able to do it, and you're right again - I definitely wouldn't be able to do it.

Mondays are my favourite TV night too, but for me it's Prison Break and Heroes.
