A mouse in the yard?

I'm putting Nicholas in his car seat and Christine is walking around to her side of the car.

"Maman! Regarde!"

I continue buckling Nicholas in and I don't go right away so she continues - if I stopped doing what I was doing every time she said this, I wouldn't be doing anything... EVER!

"Maman! Regarde! Une souris!"

I think "yeah right... with all the stray cats that live out here, a mouse has no chance".

"Maman! Une souris! Gris et blanc. Elle fait dodo. Elle fait dodo sur côté." [When I don't understand something Christine is telling me, I usually ask her to describe it so that I can guess the word she's having difficulty pronunciating. I guess she thought I didn't understand what she was saying.]

Impossible - the cats wouldn't leave a dead mouse in the back of my driveway... Nicholas is buckled in, now it's her turn. So I go around and sure enough, there's a dead mouse in the back of my driveway. Wow! She was right!

me: "Wow! C'est vrai! Une souris!"

Christine: "Oui! T'avais dit!" (yes, I told you so)

This happened a couple of days ago, and I've been meaning to write about it to keep the memory but hadn't gotten around to it yet.

"T'avais dit" - I'll have to remember that one. :)
